Capacity building is a function entrenched in the PBO Act 2013 with an aim of enhancing the effectiveness of PBOs in their pursuit of upholding high standards of Governance and compliance to the law. Its role is to offer training to sector players on operations and management of charitable organizations registered with the Board.
Since its inception in January 2016, the institute has trained both board members and staff of PBOs countrywide.
PBORA being the regulator of charities in Kenya, ICM is therefore best suited in offering training on matters of charity. The trainers used are employees of PBORA, who are familiar with the legal and regulatory requirements of the sector. In addition, the presence of ICM in itself enhances the regulatory impact of PBORA.
Further, the organ ensures that PBOs comply with the set requirements as well as all the sector policies. This is informed by the action plans that come up after the training. Lastly, the training and guidance guarantees the sustainability of charitable organizations.
To improve the response of PBOs to rules, directives, policies, regulations and laws in order to boost their compliance levels.
To equip and enhance the employees skills (trainers) such as interpersonal skills, problem solving abilities, teamwork and leadership for proper service delivery.
To raise the revenue collected by the Board.
