PBO Disputes Tribunal pays courtesy call on PBORA's Director
Members of the Public Benefit Organizations Disputes Tribunal (PBODT), led by Chairperson Anne Wambui Nderu, today paid a courtesy call on the Authority's Director/CEO, Dr Laxmana Kiptoo, at his Co-operative Bank House office, Nairobi.
The visit provided a platform for both institutions to explore areas of collaboration and partnership, with particular focus on strengthening linkages with other government institutions through coordinated engagement with key government ministries, departments, and agencies in the public benefit organizations sector.
The PBODT is established under Section 50 of the Public Benefit Organizations Act, 2013 as an independent quasi-judicial dispute resolution mechanism for the sector, with its powers specified under Section 52 of the Act. The Tribunal plays a critical role in adjudicating disputes arising within the sector, offering PBOs an accessible avenue for redress outside the ordinary court system.
Alongside the chairperson, other Tribunal members, namely Christabel Mideva, Dr Janerose Kaithi, George Asewe, and Prof Thomas Ngui, were appointed by the Chief Justice, Hon. Martha Koome, on April 30 this year in accordance with the PBO Act, and took their oath of office on May 14, 2026.
The courtesy call underscores the Tribunal's readiness itself to execute its mandate as the sector embraces a new dawn under the PBO Act, with both institutions affirming their commitment to a collaborative and well-coordinated regulatory environment that supports the growth and accountability of public benefit organizations in Kenya.
